Bubbles and Bowls Event | Ardeer Bowling Club | Stevenson, Ayrshire | Sunday 10th May 2026
After receiving an email from Aaron McDonald, who leads events and fundraising at the Bowling Club, asking whether Marie could help support an initiative encouraging more women to take up the sport and enjoy the benefits of participation, Marie was pleased to help fund the event.
The event also recognised and celebrated the appointment of the club’s new female president, Mary Boyd, marking an important moment for the club and its members.
The Bubbles and Bowls event welcomed more than 80 women across the day, giving attendees the opportunity to try the sport, meet others, and enjoy the club’s hospitality in an inclusive setting. The event encouraged participation, connection, and community engagement through sport and social activity.
Thanks to both Mary and Isobel for sharing what Marie’s support meant to them, and to Aaron for coordinating the event and sharing the photographs below.
“Marie’s support has been invaluable to us. Her belief in community spaces and in creating opportunities for women made our first Bubbles & Bowls event possible. We’re deeply grateful for her encouragement and partnership.” | President Mary Boyd
“We can’t thank Marie enough for backing this event. Her support helped us bring new women into the sport and create a brilliant day for everyone involved. It meant a great deal to our club.” | Secretary, Isobel Sweeney
International Women’s Day | Largs | Largs Community Trust | Sunday 26th April 2026
After funding was refused for an International Women’s Day event in Largs, Marie stepped forward to ensure the event could still take place. Her support enabled women across Ayrshire to come together for a day focused on empowerment, personal safety, connection, and wellbeing.
The event provided attendees with valuable knowledge, practical self-defence tools, meaningful insight, networking opportunities, and a shared lunch in a welcoming and supportive environment.
To help maximise the impact of the event, Marie and her team also created and funded a range of promotional and supporting assets designed to raise awareness and encourage participation within the local community.
Heather, who played a key role in helping bring the event to life, shared a selection of photographs from the day alongside comments and feedback from both herself and participants, reflecting the positive impact the event had on everyone involved.
