Throughout 2025, Marie Macklin continued to be an influential voice in national media and on the public stage, bringing insight, experience, and thoughtful perspective to discussions on economic policy, community regeneration, and political discourse.
In November 2025, Marie appeared on STV’s Scotland Tonight to discuss the UK Government’s latest budget. During this broadcast, she joined a panel of leading commentators to explore the budget’s impact on small and medium-sized enterprises, job creation, and regional economies, stressing the importance of policies that support bottom-up growth and long-term prosperity.
Shortly before this, Marie made her debut on BBC Scotland’s Debate Night, participating in Scotland’s flagship political and current affairs discussion programme. In front of a live audience, she engaged with senior figures from across the political spectrum on pressing topics including migration, economic strategy, and the role of constructive political engagement. Marie used the platform to highlight the Political Conversations initiative, a programme she co-founded – underscoring her commitment to promoting respectful and informed dialogue among future generations within public life.
Earlier in the year, Marie delivered her keynote talk, “Powering the Nation”, at an exclusive Entrepreneurial Scotland gathering in Glasgow. Hosted at The Exchange, the event brought together entrepreneurs and business leaders from across Scotland. Marie shared her own journey of regeneration and impact-driven enterprise, reinforcing her belief in the power of entrepreneurship to drive positive social and economic change in communities at home an abroad.

Invited by Owen Watt, Chief Growth Officer at DC Thomson, Marie joined the panel alongside representation from academia and the business community at the E-FWD Technology and Innovation in Energy, Business Breakfast in Glasgow on Friday 17th January. The events, keynote speaker, Anas Sarwar, Leader of the Scottish Labour Party shared his insights on the future industries, including GB Energy, offshore wind, grid investments, CCS, and more.
The packed event explored how technology and innovation can drive Scotland’s growing influence in the energy transition and how the city can become a key player in shaping the future of energy. Marie shared her hopes for Scotland in driving forward a realistic sustainable, just transition agenda for the country and added that, “COP26 was great, but if we don’t watch, those dreams will turn to dust,” highlighting the need for action and funded policy measures that support robust innovation within the sector.

COP26 Legacy Risks Becoming Tarnished One. “Historic” Glasgow Summit Pledges Threatened, As COP29 Meets 3 Years On. Exactly three years on from the historic pledges made at COP26 in Glasgow, the goals risk being undermined and the summit’s legacy becoming a tarnished one, it has been warned.
Marie Macklin issued the warning as part of her keynote speech at the Women in Property UK People – Places – Innovation Summit on Thursday November 14th at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.
The COP26 summit, hosted in Scotland in 2021, saw significant pledges made concerning leading financial institutions’ role in accelerating the path to Net Zero.
However, Dr Macklin, an entrepreneur who is passionately committed to urban and community regeneration, will use her speech today to highlight that more needs to be done, by governments and private sector organisations, to live up to the pledges made in Glasgow in 2021.

Marie was left undiagnosed for nearly two decades says the health system has “not come far enough” in helping people with the condition.
Entrepreneur and property developer Marie Macklin has suffered from extreme pain every month since she first had a period when she was 14.
She was diagnosed with endometriosis after collapsing when she was 32 and needed an emergency hysterectomy.
Now an ambassador with charity TALKEndo ENDO1000, she is encouraging other women with the condition to take part in a new study which could transform the future of endometriosis diagnosis and treatment.
She told STV News: “They thought I had appendicitis when they opened me up, I had endometriosis all through my organs. I remember saying to my dad, ‘I’m dying.’

Marie was a keynote speaker at an SNABC event in Edinburgh. She spoke on USA and UK economic policy driving bottom up growth for both economies built around sustainability measures and green growth transition. This included the Atlantic Declaration 2023 “Economic Partnership“ ensuring US-UK are leaders in critical and emerging technologies and digital transformation, strengthening alliance across Defence, Health, Security and Space.
Referring to eight USA Trade Pacts between the UK and USA and the USA Inflation Reduction Act 2022 a $369 billion dollar Bill that is driving clean energy, pollution solutions, solar battery and AI she highlighted the huge opportunities for Scottish and UK companies to trade and create quality jobs.
Accompanied by the new UK Government Battery Strategy and Critical Minerals policy a £2 Billion Capital & R&D funding and a £38m UK Battery Industrialisation Centre Development Fund there was a new future on the horizon for businesses looking to expand and create training and employment.
