USA Presidential Inauguration Coverage as the People Welcome a New Administration.
This week Marie was invited to share her thoughts on the incoming US government administration and what the changes in Washington might mean for Scotland’s international trade. Marie appeared on BBC Scotland’s Sunday Show and spoke to STV news and Clyde Radio West.
Marie made clear that, as she had previously outlined following last November’s election, it is in our national interest to engage positively and pragmatically with the new Trump administration. Doing so is the best way to promote jobs, growth and opportunity – and to capitalise on the historic and enduring ties of family and friendship between the United States and Scotland.
On inauguration day, (Monday 20th January 2025) Marie said, “Donald J Trump will become the 47th President of the United States of America today, we look forward to working together in the months and years ahead to build on our existing friendship – enabling our people, communities and economies to thrive.”
In November 2024, Marie’s opinion piece on Trump was published in the Times. You can read the article here: https://www.mariemacklin.co.uk/engage-with-trump-2-0-and-scotland-can-reap-the-benefits/
