Scotland’s Housing Strategy - Future Policy
Following a recent letter from Marie to the Scottish Government on Scotland’s National Housing Crisis, Marie welcomed the meeting with Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Economy & Gaelic, Kate Forbes MSP to discuss the current government policy and future strategy on housing.
Marie shared her concerns around the £200M cut from the 2024/25 Scottish Government Housing budget and the alarming statistic that 10,000 young people in Scotland have no permanent home. A constructive conversation took place with the DFM and Scottish Government officials. Marie’s overall sentiment was ‘more needs to be done’ in addition to highlighting potential solutions that could be considered by the government over the next few months that could help ease the current housing situation across the country.
Marie looks forward to further dialogue on the current housing issues.
